Progress Report on Weight Loss and Health for November

November Progress ReportI ordinarily share my weight loss journal the first of each new month, but I’m doing things a little different for November. And I am a little late in checking in.

Due to some health issues (which I have written about), I have stopped trying to lose weight. All my effort for counting calories left my body deficient in some important nutrients. I am still tracking my weight and calories, but it is NOT my focus. My focus is NUTRITION.

If you thought counting calories was daunting, try tracking nutrition. It is like a full time job. But I am having some great wins.

As you may remember, we recently moved to a new apartment due to extremely high electromagnetic fields (EMFs). I discovered the high EMFs after developing a lump in my breast and suffering a relentless case of insomnia. Evidence shows that EMFs can cause or exacerbate both conditions.

Our new apartment has much lower, safe readings. I expected that immediately upon moving I would see a significant reversal in my symptoms. Unfortunately that was not the case. Continue reading “Progress Report on Weight Loss and Health for November”

October Weight Loss Journal

October Weight Loss Journal: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

This month has been the first month that I have not finished lower than I started. On October 1st, I weighed in at 149 and on October 31st, I weighed in at 149.8. There were some 147’s in the mix as well as one 152.

But I am not discouraged, nor have I stopped trying to take off the last five pounds of my weight. So today I am going to share the good, the bad, and the ugly about this month in weight loss.

September Weight Loss Journal with Commentary (down 37.4 pounds total)

September Weight Loss ChartAt first glance, my weight loss chart for September is deceptive, so I added a red line to show the downward slope.

And I have no Twitter posts to share (except one) because my new job takes a chunk of my day away from writing, and I have opted out of tweeting.

Tummy Troubles.

On September 2 my weight dropped down to an extraordinary low. This was due to the stomach flu or possibly caffeine withdraw. Read more: Why I Had to Quit Drinking Coffee.  I was up much of the night with unpleasant symptoms of which I will spare you the details. August 2016 Weight Loss Journal

August Weight Loss Journal with Commentary (down 34.4 pounds total)

August 2016 Weight Loss JournalThis month I finally broke through the 155 mark, with the potential of getting into the 140’s. The 140’s! I can hardly believe it. I started this #weightlossjourney at 185 pounds. I wanted to be transparent about the process because I want to write a book with a step by step plan to help others do the same thing. But first I had to prove to myself that it would really work.

This is the same way I lost weight about five years earlier. The only problem is I did not include a maintenance plan into my diet. This time I will! I don’t ever want to be 185 pounds again.

The unique approach I took to lose weight — is to Continue reading “August Weight Loss Journal with Commentary (down 34.4 pounds total)”

June Weight Loss Journal with Commentary (down 28 pounds total)

Surviving the move was pretty tough on my eating schedule too. When all your pots and pans are packed up and you’re packing/cleaning from dusk to dawn — it is hard to resist those biscuits at Cracker Barrel. But I did resist the Ice Cream Berry Cobbler (mostly because I didn’t enjoy it much after a couple bites).

February Weight Journal w/Commentary (Down 12.4 Pounds Total)

When my daughter came for a visit around her birthday, I made an amazing Chocolate Beet Cake. I will be putting that recipe up soon. It is not low fat or low calorie — especially with the decadent Chocolate Frosting I put on top (that recipe can be found here). But I ate as much as I wanted. We also went out to pizza and enjoyed other nice meals together. I ate all these foods without “going off” my diet. Yes, I had to account for what I ate. But I didn’t feel guilty. I didn’t feel like I was cheating. I was just enjoying my family with good food.

January Weight Journal w/ Commentary (Down 11 Pounds)

I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions — but sometimes the job still needs to get done. When I weighed myself at the beginning of the year and saw a whopping 185 pounds on the scale — I knew it was time to make some changes. There is only one method of dieting that works for me: energy in must be less than energy out. On the other hand, I know this is a recipe for disaster if I can’t eat and enjoy all the foods I love.
