If You Are Going to Cheat — Do it the Right Way!

But…we are human. And from time to time we crave foods which are not necessarily health-giving, like potato chips, for example. We know that eating chips on a daily basis does nothing to bring vitality to our flesh. Therefore, we only eat them on occasion. This usually happens while we are out shopping and want a snack. Organic potato chips are not always available, so sometimes in a pinch — we cheat. Just a little. But we still have our standards — even when cheating.

Dangers of Drinking Tap Water

Drinking Tap Water Could Be The Final Straw That Destroys Your Health

Unfortunately, our modern conveniences may be costing us more than we realize — in fact, they could be slowly killing us. The most readily available drinking water in America comes out of convenience of the kitchen faucet. And, unfortunately, we have to pay for it regardless if it is safe to drink. There are three forms of dangers lurking in tap water: 1. those that are added (or result from what is added), 2. those which find their way into the water through other means, and 3. those that occur naturally. Number three is the least common threat, but one and two are regular health wreckers — potentially causing illness without an identifiable cause.

Embracing The Lights and Seasons God Created

Due to God’s design, the seasons cause changes in temperature, light, and length of day which results in soil changes, plant life changes, and the hours of man’s labor, etc. It reasonably follows that man in seeking to live within God’s design would naturally eat the foods that are in season for the particular area he is living in — as well as work and rest according to the season. By design plants, animals, humans, and the weather work synergistically together to produce the greatest benefit for all.

Why You Should Not Drink Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) Water — Unless You Add Minerals

The American Public Health Association reports that the ph level of naturally occurring water is between 6.5 and 8.5 ph. A ph of 7 is considered neutral, below seven is acidic, and above seven is alkaline. [4] The World Health Organization reports that water with too low a ph or too high a ph can cause health conditions affecting the eyes, skin, and gastrointestinal system. [5] Other studies, many which are anecdotal — including my own, show that low ph levels in water can cause symptoms of acidosis

Organic Red Kale Confetti Salad: Simple. Delicious. Nutritious. Only $0.95 per serving.

It has taken me awhile to get on the Kale Train — but now I am a regular rider. This is due in part to our local Earthfare market offering their organic kale for $0.99 per bunch. This is an important tip if you are committed to eating organic: buy whatever vegetables are on sale. Remember: you CAN afford to eat organic, but you CAN’T afford not to.

There are rumors floating around the Internet that kale should not be eaten raw due to high levels of oxalic acid. After a little research, I found that kale is much lower oxalic acid than spinach — in fact it is considerably lower. 100 grams of kale contains 20 milligrams of oxalates, whereas the same amount of spinach contains 970 milligrams. Here is a calorie and cost analysis for those watching their waistlines and wallets. Continue reading “Organic Red Kale Confetti Salad: Simple. Delicious. Nutritious. Only $0.95 per serving.”

Delighted by Living From The Garden

vegetable-basket-349667_1920Have you ever considered the variety of foods that grow from the earth’s bountiful garden — all the foods that God has given us to enjoy? My heart sings over an avocado — with its creamy goodness. And my tastebuds rejoice when I bite into the tangy yellow flesh of a mango. I am even delighted by the sweet sting of a jalapeño pepper on my tongue. Of course, I must not forget garlic, with its undeniable beauty on the palette. And  a basil leaf picked straight off the stem — what a refreshingly pungent herb that adds life to many dishes. And let us also remember the queen of all the fragrant edibles: Continue reading “Delighted by Living From The Garden”

How to Remove Chlorine from Bathwater for Pennies

If you thought you were safe from the affects of chlorine because you use a filter for your drinking water, you’re wrong. The hot bath water opens the pours, allowing the chlorine to be absorbed through the skin. And worse, the steam from a hot chlorinated bath or shower contains a by-product of chlorine: chloroform, which is more dangerous than chlorine.
