Healthy Blood Through Rest: Conclusion

relax-1098751_1920There is no one who is exempt from the fundamental necessity of sleep and rest. Jesus Himself was found tired, sleeping, and resting. As humans we need rest for our bodies and we also need rest for our souls. The first post on rest in this series reminded us that the only true rest for our souls is found in Christ. Read about it here:

We then looked at three biblical principles concerning rest:

  1. Work six days and rest one
  2. Work the land six years, rest it one
  3. Work during the day, rest at night

We also discussed the importance of not over-resting, nor over-working.

Then we discussed what a good night’s sleep looks like — from falling asleep quickly, to waking up refreshed for a new day. We talked about the amount of sleep considered normal and necessary today compared to times past. Read more here:

We also considered some of the fundamental mechanisms that occur in the body that lead up to falling asleep. And how toxic overload and oxygen depletion affect the overall sleeping process, often preventing deep sleep. Read about it here:

And finally, we laid bare the fundamental requirements to reverse poor sleep: reduce toxins and increase oxygen intake during the waking hours so the body can enter a state of restorative sleep quickly. This is accomplished through consistent moderate exercise and healthy eating. Read more here:

And that concludes and summarizes Living Under God’s Design – Principle #3: Healthy Blood Through Rest

The next principle, Healthy Blood Through Environment, will identify how God has designed humans to live in this beautiful world He created. We will note that exercise was once built into the way of life. Now, it is something that must be added to a healthy lifestyle. With that in mind, we will share several methods of moderate exercise that can bring oxygen into our blood while we are awake, ultimately improving our sleep and overall health.
