If you love maple syrup, but are trying to cut down on carbs, I found a simple, but healthy way to get the maple yumminess with less sugar. Unfortunately this recipe does not save on the wallet. However, Costco has the best price on organic maple syrup that I have yet seen. At our Costco in Greenville, South Carolina, I can buy 32 ounces for around $13.00. That is a phenomenal deal.
Xylitol has many health benefits and tastes almost identical to table sugar without the negative side affects. [1] Xylitol is not as common as other sugar substitutes, so it may not be available at your local health food store. I usually buy it online, where the price is fairly reasonable. I only buy Xyla brand because it is made of Birch wood, not corn. It is available at Amazon.
