Thank You!
I recently shared a request for feedback concerning my upcoming weight loss and diet book. You can read the post here: Will You Please Help Me Out With A Short Survey?
I am so grateful and amazed by all the thoughtful responses I received. It has helped me out so much. I know now that I must add several chapters to address all the information that is important to my readers. If you have not had a chance to share what is important to you, the survey is still open. I welcome as many responses as possible. Take Survey Now!
The one thing that surprised me the most (though I don’t know why) was the number one reason my readers (and those who responded) want to lose weight.
I was sure the top motivator for weight loss was to feel more attractive. I couldn’t have been more wrong (though it did rank #3).
I was also surprised by the number two reason you all are motivated to lose weight.
Weight Loss Motivators.
There were 7 possible answers for the question: “What are your primary motivators to lose weight (check all that apply)?” Here is how YOU ranked them.
- Number 7: Other. 0% of those surveyed chose “other” as a reason for losing weight. That means the six reasons below are the primary motivators for weight loss.
- Number 6: To Please Others. Only 12% of those surveyed wanted to lose weight to please others. If I had taken the survey, the stats would have gone up. I do desire to please my spouse in my weight loss. I also like to look better to others. Perhaps this is not a solid reason on my part — but I thought others found it as important as me. This is a great reminder why feedback is SO important.
- Number 5: To Ease Joint Pain. 41% of responders wanted to lose weight to help with joint pain. I was surprised at this number as well. But glad I included it in my questionnaire.
- Number 4: To Have More Confidence. 47% of readers who participated in the survey feel that achieving their desired weight would boost their confidence. I have to agree. Having lost almost 40 pounds has increased my confidence.
- Number 3: To Feel More Attractive. 65% of those polled would feel more attractive at their desired weight. I do feel more attractive now that I have lost most of my excess weight. This probably lends to having more confidence as well (number 4).
- Number 2: To Fit Into My Favorite Clothes. 76% of those surveyed either want to look better in their clothes, go shopping for some new clothes, fit into their own clothes, or just be able to shop for better styles. Clothes apparently are a huge motivator when it comes to weight loss.
- Number 1. Here it is: The number one reason you want to lose weight. 100% of those responding to the survey wanted to lose weight so they could Improve Their Health. I am not sure why this surprised me. Reformed Health is a health blog after all. But I was delighted to know how important this was to you all. In fact, it has caused me to change the focus of my book to make the health factor more prominent and attainable. I want you all to be the best that God has for you. I really do appreciate the feedback more than you know.
If you don’t think these survey results represent YOU, please share your input by taking the survey! Until the book is complete (or I exceed my quota) I will keep the survey open.
Again, thank you so much for participating!
