September Weight Loss Journal with Commentary (down 37.4 pounds total)

September Weight Loss ChartAt first glance, my weight loss chart for September is deceptive, so I added a red line to show the downward slope.

And I have no Twitter posts to share (except one) because my new job takes a chunk of my day away from writing, and I have opted out of tweeting.

Tummy Troubles.

On September 2 my weight dropped down to an extraordinary low. This was due to the stomach flu or possibly caffeine withdraw. Read more: Why I Had to Quit Drinking Coffee.  I was up much of the night with unpleasant symptoms of which I will spare you the details.

September 2 Tweet @mischelle007

I woke up extremely dehydrated and unable to take water. I even had to call into work sick. And my weight did bounce right back up the next day.

And, ironically, but to a lessor degree, the same thing happened the night before the 30th.

A Few Changes.

This month I also had a few changes in my regime. Not only have I been walking 4-5 miles, five days a week at my new job —

[I am so thankful for my Apple 5S iPhone which has been tracking my steps without my knowledge. When I downloaded the step tracking app, Stepz, all the past information synced from the iPhone I recently got through Consumer Cellular for only $200. And we only pay about $35 a month for our no contract phone service — and that is for two phones. And they have plans for as low as $10 a month. Learn more about Consumer Cellular here. If you sign up through this link, you’ll receive a $10 credit on your first bill. Thanks, Mom, for telling me about Consumer Cellular.]

— but I also joined a gym. I wrote about that here: Free Trainer with $10 Membership at Planet Fitness.

Since I am walking plenty at work, I have been doing strength training at Planet Fitness. As a result, I have been gaining muscle and my appetite has increased. I am having to do some adjustment to my caloric intake which I have not figured out perfectly yet. Muscle weighs more than fat — but muscle also helps burn more calories. So weighing in on the scale may not be as stable as I’d like during this transition. But the trend is still in the direction I want, and I am still enjoying all my favorite foods, and it still doesn’t feel like I am dieting at all.

And I am getting stronger and my endurance is increasing. So I am thankful. In addition, I am only 2.4 pounds away from my goal. However, I may adjust my goal depending on the remaining fat on my body once I reach it. But this will depend also on the effects of weight training.

Health Struggles.

I have also been struggling with some health issues since moving into our new apartment. I wrote about the move here: A Moving Story. I wrote about some of the health issues here: A Breast Lump with Your Coffee. But I have also been struggling with insomnia, unexplainable stress, brain fog, weakened immune system, and an persistent infection in my pinkie finger. When I added up all the symptoms, and looked outside and saw 21 electric meters outside my window. I had an “aha” moment.

I got out the Trifield 100XE EMF Gauss Meter that my dear friend had given me and measured the electromagnetic fields (EMF) in and around our apartment. They were off the charts in the danger zone. I can’t believe we didn’t notice all the electric meters so close to where we were sleeping and living. We had made a foolish mistake. Now, we will be moving to a different location with safe EMF readings soon. We’ve already secured the apartment.

I guess I will be telling another “moving” story.

If you are suffering unexplainable symptoms, you might want to get your own gauss (EMF) meter and do some testing. The Trifield 100XE EMF Gauss Meter is a best seller on Amazon. After testing for dangerous levels, you can at least rearrange your living situation to be as safe as possible — or as in our case — you may need to move.

I will be writing more about the dangers of high EMFs in the future.

I bring these things up because lack of sleep and persistent health problems have a major impact on weight loss and well-being.

So here is my chart for the month of September:
