I recently shared 10 Bible verses that give me hope when things are not looking bright. There I mentioned I had packed my belongings over 13 times in four different states from the west coast to the east coast in the last five years. Read about it here.
Well…I can officially up the count to 14. And believe it or not — that does not include every move — just the times we have packed our belongings.
Right now my computer is set up on a temporary desk (a folding table), and I am surrounded by totes, boxes, and furniture in the middle of my new 575 square feet apartment with no storage. This is a downsize from a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a storage shed. We have given away and sold perhaps half of our belongings.
We had considered renting a storage unit or taking some stuff to family. We opted against it.
God is good. Every time I find myself wanting to complain, I catch myself and think of all the blessings He has given us. If I had more time, I’d tell you at least 50 blessings I could think of.
But It is late. I am tired from moving all day. And it is time to rest.
Please understand if my regular posts are a bit atypical (and short). It may take me a month to get my mind to a place to focus on the content I desire to provide.
In the meantime, I will keep God’s truths in my heart, remembering that He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly (which I can do because of what Jesus did for me). And I will remember that He is working all things to my good — because He is good (and He promises).

Hi Mischelle. I currently live in 250 sq feet after raising a family in 900 sq ft for 20 years. At first, I thought it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Now I feel like it is the BEST! Have you checked out the Tiny House movement? I find it so inspiring whenever I start thinking about moving to a bigger space. Before downsizing I held about a dozen yard sales and made at least ten trips to Goodwill. Small spaces help prevent me from buying “stuff” I really don’t need. I look forward to hearing more about your life in a smaller space 🙂
Wow! 250 square feet. I think that is smaller then the 5th wheel we lived in a few years ago. Presently I am bouncing between frustration as I get settled and creativity as I find ways to make the space work. Thanks for reaching out!
