Are You Looking For A Magic Bullet?

magic-1081149_1280Gimme A Magic Bullet.

When I tell people I have a website that teaches the Biblical Principles of Wellness, everyone wants to know what I sell. What company do I work for? Have I heard of Youngevity, or Plexus, or Greens on the Go? Or they ask — what should I take for this problem or that problem?

“You just can’t get the nutrition you need from food” — is the mantra I hear over and over and over and over.

Everyone wants a magic bullet. “Just tell me which pill to take so I can be healthy.”

Health Involves Change.

True health doesn’t work like that.

True health is an overall approach to life. It takes sacrifice and change. We all would like to have a presto change-o pill that could fix all of our problems.

In fact that is the exact mentality of the medical establishment, which is often no more than a legal drug dispensary.

God Didn’t Create Magic Bullets.

Reformed Health does not sell any exclusive products (at this time). We are not the poster board for a single supplement company (if I could find one that I stood by 100% that might change). And we do not buy into the mentality that food is not enough to produce good health. After all, for 6000 years man has lived without vitamins, pills, supplements, shots, vaccines, antibiotics, and the like.

How has mankind survived so long without modern medicine? Because God designed a way for us to live in the world he created. That is what we teach at Reformed Health.

I can hear your objections already:

  • But the soil is depleted
  • Man has destroyed the food supply
  • Our DNA has changed for the worse

So supplements are the answer? How about fixing the soil, restoring the food supply, and accepting that if our DNA has declined — it could be because the soil is depleted and man has destroyed the food supply (and again let’s fix the problem).

We Don’t Sell Magic Bullets.

At Reformed Health we don’t sell Magic Bullets. We share the Biblical Principles of Wellness so you can take control of your own health and be all that God has designed you to be.

Does this mean there is no place for supplements in our worldview (health view)? Not necessarily.

Proper supplementation can help in times of crisis for the body. Supplementation can help with various issues the body is suffering. Supplementation can help the body as it transitions from a death producing life-style to a life-producing one.

Magic Bullets and Witchcraft.

But supplementation should never be an excuse to continue making poor health choices. If you take supplements (or medication) because you refuse to eat a healthy diet, refuse to exercise, and desire to harm your body with destructive life-style choices — this is similar to witchcraft. It is a manipulation of God’s design by taking a magic potion, a magic bullet so you don’t have to suffer the consequences of your poor choices.

This is not being a good steward with the body and resources God has given. And it is sin.

Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit — let us not rely on magic bullets so we can continue abusing our temples. Rather, let’s seek to discover how God has designed us to live in this world He has created.

In future posts, I will be sharing more about supplementation. So stayed tuned…
